Libre Expression est la maison des best-sellers québécois en roman, en récit et en biographie. Elle édite aussi des documents ethnologiques et historiques. De plus, elle publie, depuis plus de quinze ans, les prestigieuses collections de guides de voyage « Guides Voir », « Top 10 » et « 15 minutes ». Parmi ses auteurs confirmés : Rafaële Germain, Kim Thúy, Suzanne Aubry, Francine Ruel et, en traduction, Diana Gabaldon, Roméo A. Dallaire, Carlene Thompson et Jodi Compton.

- Le Québec, une des dix provinces canadiennes, a une population de 7,7 millions d’habitants, dont 6 millions de francophones.
- En 2008, 6 665 nouveaux titres ont été publiés (en France: 70 000) pour un tirage moyen de 2700 exemplaires et un prix moyen de 30$.

SUBVENTIONS À LA TRADUCTION
Le Conseil des Arts du Canada rembourse 50% des frais de traduction pour les ouvrages littéraires. La SODEC (gouvernement du Québec) offre une aide financière qui peut atteindre 75% des frais de traduction, incluant les honoraires de révision, pour un montant maximum de 12 500$.

- There were 6,665 new titles published in 2008 (in France, 70,000) with an average print run of 2,700 copies and at an average price of $30.
- A work that sells more than 3,000 copies is a bestseller in Quebec.
- French publishers export most of their books to Quebec through distributors.
TRANSLATION SUBSIDIES
The Canada Council for the Arts refunds 50% of translation costs for literary works. SODEC (Quebec government) provides financial aid for up to 75% of translation costs, including editing costs, for a maximum amount of $12,500.
